Let's Meet

I'm Melanie, a registered Recreational Therapist and Nurse

At NRTS, we provide a one-to-one, personalized approach to recreation leisure in your home. I assess my clients through an in-depth initial assessment, going through their leisure preferences, past and present interests, strengths, barriers, attitudes, diagnoses and functional abilities. Together, we will establish goals and a program plan.  My goal is to improve the quality of life for individuals with limiting conditions through meaningful leisure.                                    Most of all – I want my clients to have fun!

About Me + NRTS.

I have experience working in Long Term Care as well as a hospital setting in Recreation Therapy and Nursing. I have experience working with a diverse population including patients with dementia, acquired brain injury, mental health, mental health diagnoses, and more.

I also have experience working with adolescent/young adults with intellectual disabilities as well as neurological developmental challenges.

NRTS can help to improve you or your loved one’s physical, mental, and emotional health, while providing experiences that will engage you/your loved one in activities that will stimulate their gross motor skills, physical fitness, mood, and social skills.

The diverse populations that are served through NRTS are:

-        Seniors and the elderly

-        Dementia and Alzheimer’s patients

-        Those suffering from a brain injury

-        Individuals with developmental disorders

My clients have different limitations to leisure activities and it is my goal to ensure that they are able to fully participate within these limitations, which we will plan for in our initial consultation.

I currently serve the areas of Welland, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, Port Colborne, Fonthill, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Lincoln, Thorold, and Wainfleet.
